GSPro and FSX Play PC Requirements for a Golf Simulator
Published 2026-10-31 by Jon Alden, Alden Tech
What GSPro and Foresight FSX Play actually require from your PC, which launch monitors change the answer, and how to choose between Intel and AMD.
I build computers for home golf simulators, and the same question comes up before almost every order: what does the PC actually need? The answer depends less on the software than on which launch monitor you own. Here is what GSPro and Foresight publish, and how I turn it into a build.
The short answer
If you own a Foresight launch monitor (GC3, GCQuad, GCQuad Max, GCHawk or Falcon), build on Intel and NVIDIA. GSPro needs FSX 2020 or FSX Play running alongside it for those monitors, and FSX Play says AMD processors are not recommended and AMD graphics cards are not supported.
With most other monitors, such as Uneekor, Rapsodo and Garmin, GSPro treats Intel and AMD processors as equals and lists AMD graphics cards as supported, so you can choose on price and performance.
Either way, the graphics card matters most, 16GB of memory is the floor, and 32GB is the right amount for 4K.
GSPro: what its knowledge base says
GSPro groups hardware into three tiers, 1080p, 1080p Ultra and 4K Ultra, with separate lists for desktops and laptops. For desktops:
1080p: an i5 or Ryzen 5, 16GB of memory, and a graphics card such as an RTX 3060, RTX 4060 or RX 6600.
1080p Ultra: an i5 or Ryzen 5 (an i7 or Ryzen 7 if you run other apps at the same time), 16GB of memory, and a card such as an RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070, RTX 4060 Ti, RTX 5060 or RX 6800.
4K Ultra: an i7 or Ryzen 7 (an i9 or Ryzen 9 if you run other apps at the same time), 32GB of memory, and a card such as an RTX 3080, RTX 4070, RTX 5070 or RTX 5080, or an RX 6900 XT.
GSPro says it is not very CPU intensive. Plan for at least 10GB of free storage, 20GB for the Ultra tiers, and about 1GB for every course you download. GSPro checks your license each time it launches, so the PC needs an internet connection, and a license can be active on only one PC at a time.

Foresight FSX Play: what Foresight says
Windows 10 or newer, 64-bit. Linux and iOS are not supported.
An Intel Core i5, i7 or i9, 7th generation or newer. Foresight says AMD processors are not recommended.
An NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or better. NVIDIA Quadro and AMD graphics cards are not supported.
At least 8GB of memory, and 16GB or more recommended, especially if you use a swing camera or Swing Catalyst.
For the best quality and performance, Foresight suggests an RTX 3070 Ti, 3080 or 3090.

Which launch monitors need FSX Play
GSPro's own Foresight page says all users of the GC3, GCQuad, GCQuad Max, GCHawk and Falcon must have FSX 2020 or FSX Play. Bushnell Launch Pro users need a paid Gold subscription instead. If you own one of the Foresight monitors, treat the FSX Play hardware rules as yours too.

Intel or AMD if you only run GSPro
If your monitor is not a Foresight, both families are on GSPro's list, so it comes down to budget and preference. I build both, and I will tell you which fits your monitor before I quote. If you might switch to a Foresight monitor someday, an Intel and NVIDIA build keeps that door open.
What I build
My golf simulator PCs are bench-tested in Spartanburg, South Carolina, installed on site across the Upstate, and covered by a 3-year parts and labor warranty. See the golf simulator PC builds or ask me about your setup. Requirements change, so confirm against the vendor pages above before you buy.
