The entry point to private, local AI. AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 pairs 12 CPU cores with Radeon 890M graphics and an NPU rated up to 55 TOPS (up to 86 TOPS combined), sharing 32GB of dual-channel DDR5-5600 between system and graphics, with up to 24GB configurable as dedicated GPU memory (UMA frame buffer, set in the BIOS or AMD Software). That's a good fit for smaller models, roughly the 7B to 14B class depending on quantization and context, for a private assistant, coding help, and trying out local AI before committing to a bigger system. It uses standard DDR5 rather than the faster unified memory in our 64GB and 128GB workstations, so larger models and multi-user setups belong on those. The memory is two SO-DIMM slots, so it can be upgraded later. Ships with LM Studio installed and configured; Ollama and llama.cpp are available through the AI Tooling Package.
