AI Workstations for Running Local LLMs

An AI workstation is a computer built to run AI models, such as large language models, on your own hardware instead of a cloud service. Alden Tech builds, tunes and tests AI workstations in Spartanburg, SC, sized to the models you plan to run and backed by a 3-year parts and labor warranty.

How to Choose: Memory Decides Model Size

The most important number on an AI workstation is how much memory the GPU can use, because it decides which models fit at all. Our 32GB entry system suits smaller models, roughly the 7B to 14B class. A 64GB system comfortably runs models in the 20B to 35B parameter range. Models in the 70B class and larger mixture-of-experts models need a 128GB-class configuration.

Our VRAM sizing guide walks through the math, and the 64GB vs. 128GB breakdown compares the two tiers directly.

Included with Every Workstation

Optional AI Tooling Package (+$250): Ollama and llama.cpp, Open WebUI for a browser-based team interface, and a document search (RAG) pipeline.
